Kelli Dipple


Kelli is currently Webcasting Curator at Tate, London. Working on the development, programming and production of live webcasts and interface design in conjunction with Digital programmes - Tate Online and Education and Interpretation at Tate Modern and Tate Britain.

Kelli has worked for the past decade at the intersection of digital technology and performance practice under the name of Gravelrash Integrated Media, specializing in the integration of visual, interactive, communication and network technologies into live events for live audiences.

In 2002 she undertook research and development residencies across the eastern states of America and in the UK, supported by the Australia Council, investigating performance distribution, multiple timelines, non-linear narrative and cultural co-production. Further delivering outcomes of the project via workshops and conferences in the UK, USA and Australia. Throughout 2003 in residence at the Montevideo Artlab, Kelli managed the development and interface design of an open source multi media tool for hand held computers at Montevideo in the Netherlands. Delivering outcomes for the E culture Fair by Virtueel Platform 2003 as well as the Amsterdam Maastricht Summer University in conjunction with Montevideo and Steim. Also developed and produced interactive - networked performances as resident artist for The Interaktion Labor at the Saarland Coal Mine site, Germany 2003, and PVA LabCulture in the UK 2002.

Between 2000 and 2002 Kelli held the position of Media Arts Manager at Site Gallery, Sheffield. Was Cocurator and Coordinator for Moon Radio Web TVs 2003 summer programme, produced by Active Ingredient, Nottingham and the b10me Digital Arts - Online Community Manager for Lighthouse Media Centre, Brighton 2003.

Kelli also works with Australian artists, Company in Space and The Transmute Collective.

Recent research and development has involved online interface and archive design / community development / personal devices / wireless networks / and soft architectures. Her personal work takes the form of site specific interactive performance, split screen video, personal data exchange and online forum. Specializing in multiple site and networked events, as well as relationships between actual and virtual spaces / presence and telepresence.

Education and Form

Kelli majored in directing and voice / movement studies in the Drama and Dance Departments of the Queensland University of Technology Australia, graduating in 1995. During this period Kelli fostered an interest in digital technologies, made possible via the resources available through the Centre for Innovation in the Arts at QUT. Kelli continued voice and movement training until 2000, and is self educated in computer, network and video technologies. Maintaining a collaborative and interdisciplinary methodology across form and practice at the intersection of performance art, live art, post modern dance, video installation, experimental theatre, film, radio, gaming, spoken word, sonic arts and net art.

Over the last 6 years, her work has spanned the globe via the internet in order to produce simultaneous multiple site and networked events.
